General Network FAQs

  • Who has access to the National Forum Nursing Workforce Minimum Datasets? The Minimum datasets are available on our website and available to anyone. Click here to go to this page. 
  • What data can be accessed? There are no publicly available datasets through the National Forum. The Minimum Datasets are a set of recommendations on how to collect data in individual states.
  • What national workforce data is being collected by the National Forum?  The National Forum collaborates with the the National Council of State Boards of Nursing to collect a national nursing workforce sample survey every other year. More information about this survey is available here.
  • What online resources are available? For Associate Individual, Associate Organization and State Representative Subscribers an extensive membership portal provides an expert directory, discussion forums, access to national committee work, nursing workforce resources and monthly sharing sessions.
  • What are sharing sessions? Each month the National Forum hosts an open sharing session on a variety of topics.  Past topics have included Demand data collection, statewide staffing, clinical practice programs, nurse recognition programs, DEI initiatives and more.  Sharing sessions are only available to Associate Individual, Associate Organization and State Representative Subscribers. Notes or session recordings are sent to those that register for the session.
  • What are policy sharing sessions?  Each month the National Forum State Advocacy Committee hosts an open policy sharing session. These sessions which are only open to Associate Individual, Associate Organization and State Representative Subscribers include updates and problem-solving on state level policy impacting nursing workforce.
  • What are the National Forum volunteer teams? A benefit of Subscriptions is participation on national committees, research and programmatic collaborative groups. All volunteer teams work on components of the National Forum strategic plan. 2025- 2027 Strategic Plan 

Public Subscriber FAQs

  • Who can be a public subscriber? Anyone with an interest in nursing workforce.
  • What is the cost of a Public Subscription?  There is not cost for a public subscription.
  • Does the Public subscription expire?  No, there is no expiration once you sign-up through our newsletter provider Wild Apricot. Please notify info@nursingworkforcecenters.org if you would like to be removed from the newsletter list.

Associate Individual Subscriber FAQs

  • Who can be an Associate Subscriber?  Anyone with an interest in nursing workforce.
  • What is the cost of an Associate Subscription?  $149/year for an individual subscription
  • Does an Associate Subscription expire?  Yes, the subscription will end one year from sign-up unless renewed. Automatic renewals are available.

Associate Organization Subscribers

  • Who can be an Associate Organization subscriber? Any organization with a focus on the nursing workforce across the continuum of care. This includes state, regional or national organizations engaged in nursing workforce research, recruitment or retention, colleges/universities, action coalitions, health workforce research organizations, nursing policy organizations and others.
  • What is the cost of an Associate Organization Subscription? The subscription fees is $400 per calendar year which includes 2 members. Additional members from the same organization can be added at $99 each with the same invoice.
  • Does an Associate Organization subscription expire?  These subscriptions expire at the end of the calendar year. For those organizations that join mid-year, prorated fees are available.

State Representative Subscriber FAQs

  • Who can be a State Representative Subscriber? Only one organization for each state/territory.  Click here to view a map of our  current state subscribers.  For state’s without a current State Representative Subscriber, the Board of Directors review applications.   • What is the cost of a State Representative Subscription?  $700/year for an organizational subscription which includes 2 members. Additional members from the same organization can be added for $99 if added in the same invoice.
  • Does a State Representative Subscription expire?  Yes, subscriptions must be renewed by March 31st for each calendar year subscription.
