The report summarizes findings from the Education Capacity Survey. We are pleased to report that 100% of Hawaii’s in-state schools of nursing submitted a survey. As a result, we are confident that the data are an accurate representation of Hawaii’s capacity to educate nurses during AY 2019-2020.
In addition to providing data about enrollment capacity and demand for nurse education, the report also provides information related to critical challenges faced by local schools of nursing including ongoing clinical placement shortages and a rapidly rising faculty vacancy rate. We also provided a brief overview of schools’ early responses to the COVID-19 pandemic.
